Let's meet at Gas Works Park in Seattle. Be there, ready to go at the time listed above. We will start with a required safety briefing, and roll out when that's done. All riders must attend the safety briefing to participate.
We'll start at Gas Works, cross the 520 bridge, continue to Marymoor, then loop around Lake Sammamish, do a little climbing (and descending) through the Robinswood area, circle the rolling Mercer Island before heading back across I-90, then heading north through Leschi and Madison Valley and finally at the Stadium, connecting with the Burke Gilman for a flat finish back to Gasworks.
We will climb and descend at our own pace, regrouping at the tops and bottoms of hills. We'll also limit our speed on any multi-use paths to the legal maximum (usually 15 MPH, occasionally 10 MPH).
Porta-potties are available at the start. We will stop along the way for restrooms/water at miles 14.4, coffee/snacks at Issaquah Coffee Company at mile 39.2, and another restroom/water break at 50.9.
Bring a spare tube and tools to fix a flat, just in case. Other things to bring: phone; ID; cash and/or credit card; ORCA card; water and a small snack. Please have full fenders if the roads are wet, or you may be asked to ride at the rear of the group.
Navigation and Cue Sheets: It's important to have navigation in event of separation due to flats or other situations. Please download the route file onto your phone or GPS device for navigation, or you can print out and bring a cue sheet. Cue sheets are not available at the start.
Pace: Riders should be able to sustain the appropriate pace which is 14-16 on the flats with no wind (except when we are on bike trails when we will adhere to the 15 mph maximum). This may mean faster than 16mph going downhill or on the flats with a tail wind, and slower going uphill or into a head wind. If maintaining the pace is difficult for a rider, we will do our best to accommodate, but in an extreme case, the rider may have to continue the ride on their own.
Note: If weather conditions meet the weather cancellation criterion listed above or if there are unforeseen hazardous riding conditions or other unexpected events, the Ride Leader will cancel the ride and all registered riders will be sent a notification email. If the ride is cancelled at least two hours before the start, Ride Leader(s) will not be at the start location. Please check before leaving for the ride.
We hope you can join us!
