This is the fifth annual Christmas and Caffeine ride. After opening presents in the morning and before overeating Christmas dinner, join us for a relaxed ride from Gas Works to Alki. This is a nice scenic ride, mostly flat with a coffee/snack stop at Alki Beach. If the weather is nice, we'll take a half mile detour out to the end of Jack Block Park for a photo op. Style points will be awarded for holiday decorated bikes and riders.

The ride leader will not be at the ride start should weather meet the definition for cancellation (steady rain). Ride cancellation will be announced in the Comments Section below at least two (2) hours prior to the ride start and the ride leader will monitor the phone and email listed.

Note: For rides with a “hilly” terrain classification, consider choosing a pace one step down from your usual comfort level.

What Terrain Means

Terrain indicates the most common or average terrain type of the ride and should be considered relative to the length and overall difficulty of the ride. For example, a long-distance ride with a lot of elevation gain will be overall less challenging than a short ride with equal elevation gain. Consider the pace and frequency of regroup as well to understand how advanced a ride may be.

  • Mostly flat: Trails and/or mostly flat roads with a possible gentle uphill
  • Rolling: Climbs are short and easy, not too numerous
  • Some hills: A few short, steep hills, some moderate upgrades and/or longer gentle climbs
  • Hilly: Consistent or continuous climbing
  • Off-road: Significant unpaved sections
