Riding events season is on the horizon!

The holidays are just around the corner (where did the time go?!). That means our 2020 riding events season is also on the horizon! After a well-deserved breather, Cascade’s events staff has worked throughout the fall to plan our exciting 2020 season.

What does planning look like at Cascade? The events team stays busy with all of the behind-the-scenes steps that bring each riding event together. Throughout the year you might find them:

  • Setting dates

  • Securing finish line hotels

  • Applying for city and county permits (most permitting requires a year’s notice)

  • Working with designers to develop ride logos and other event artwork

  • Updating ride details on our website

  • Fixing equipment, cleaning the storage warehouse, and ordering new supplies

  • Researching new routes

And much, much more.

Many of our major rides involve in-depth planning with community partners and local governmental jurisdictions. To plan the 2020 Chilly Hilly, for example, our staff worked with the Washington State Ferries system to secure the February date when riders will excitedly ferry over to Bainbridge Island in the early morning hours. They also collaborated with the City of Bainbridge Island, the local police department, the parks department, and various local nonprofit groups to help coordinate the finish line and annual chili feed, which benefits other Bainbridge Island community groups—and feeds lots of hungry riders!

There’s a similar narrative unfolding for the Emerald City Ride, STP, RSVP and many others. So no matter which major ride you’re planning to enjoy in 2020, rest assured that Cascade has been planning all year to make it an epic riding adventure.

Feeling the cooler weather excitement of Chilly Hilly just around the bend? Registration is NOW OPEN. As a bonus, if you register for Chilly Hilly before December 31, you’ll receive free packet mailing ($5 savings).

Other events now open for registration include the Ride Around Washington, Washington Bike, Walk, Roll Summit, Bike Swap and Arizona Tour, as well as the Cascade Season Pass and Summer Fun Pass. See our website for details about each opportunity.

All other riding events open to Cascade members in January, with non-member registration to follow in February. Stay tuned for more information about registration openings, and see our major events webpage for more details.
