Yes, we do take bike donations!

You asked, we answered!

We get a lot of questions from folks who have a bike that they’re looking to sell or donate. Here’s the skinny on how we can help:

Yes, we do take bike donations! When bikes are donated to us, we sell them at the annual Seattle Bike Swap, with proceeds benefiting the Major Taylor Project, our afterschool youth development program for middle and high school students. At the 2019 Swap, donated bikes helped raise more than $12,000 toward getting students on bikes and out to explore their communities.

The process for donating is easy. Just bring your bike to our Magnuson Park office during business hours (Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.) We’ll mail you a donation receipt and give you a big thanks. Read more about the donation process here.

Please note: We can only accept new or used bikes in good working order. When we receive bikes that are in poor condition, we end up using our limited resources transporting them to other organizations better suited to use damaged or inoperable bikes.

We do not purchase bikes from individual sellers, and we do not maintain a classifieds forum for selling them. If you’re interested in having us help you sell your bike, we have a consignment option at the annual Seattle Bike Swap. You can check out more information here. This is the only regularly occurring (annual) option we offer for assistance with selling your bike.

Whether you’re ready to upgrade your current bike or just have one in the garage that’s not getting much pedal time, we’ve got options for putting a donated bike to use! To learn more about joining us for a ride, check out our rides page. And don’t forget, you can get help with your other bike questions by checking out our resources page

See you out there!
