Volunteering at Cascade comes with surprise perks

Image

This year, more than 700 volunteers dedicated their time, effort, and genuine friendship to Cascade -- and what better way to thank them then an epic volunteer appreciation party. On October 4, our Magnuson Park office hosted celebratory evening with food, drinks, prizes, awards, and a final look back at the year. While we host this appreciation evening every year, this year we added a special storytelling element, encouraging volunteers to share their stories about Cascade.

Looks like fun, right? We’d love to have you join us for the next volunteer celebration, and there are plenty of ways that you can get involved with volunteering at Cascade. From packet stuffing to data entry to bicycle repair, we have volunteer opportunities to fit a variety of interests and abilities. Many of our volunteers work with our policy department on local bicycle counts or community advocacy projects. Others stop by to assist our education department staff in repairing and maintaining kids’ bikes used in our school programs. And some are avid event riders working toward their next earned registration by stuffing packets or assisting at an event start line.

If you need a little encouragement about why volunteering is worth the effort, take it from Laura, one of Cascade’s longtime volunteer superstars: “It doesn’t even feel like I’m volunteering my time. Cascade treats its volunteers like family, and that keeps me coming back.”

No matter where our volunteers choose to contribute, we can’t put a price on the impact it leaves on our staff and our work. Cascade was started as a volunteer-run organization nearly 50 years ago, and our programs and services wouldn’t be possible today without the endless support we receive from our dedicated volunteers.
