Top 3 reasons to ride the Emerald City Ride presented by Kaiser Permanente

What’s on your calendar for Sunday, May 26? If it’s not the Emerald City Ride presented by Kaiser Permanente, we’ve got three great reasons for you to pencil it in!

1) This year’s route holds epic views of the city and includes the SR 99 tunnel

Did you miss the Tunnel Ride back in February? Did you ride the Tunnel Ride but just didn’t get enough of the thrill? Now’s your chance to experience the excitement of a route seldom taken by bike. And hey, May is Bike Everywhere Month, so if you jump on board for the Emerald City Ride on May 26, you’ll definitely get to bike everywhere that you’ll rarely get to experience on your own. 

Not to mention the free snacks at the Gas Works Park rest stop, the incredible views from the I-5 express lanes, and the finish line festival at Pyramid Alehouse. 

It’s not every day that you get to pedal through the longest road tunnel in the lower 48 states, peer down onto the sparkling waters of Lake Union and Portage Bay from high above, and finish off a celebratory beer, all before noon. So grab a couple friends and sign up now!

2) Speaking of celebrations, the finish line party at Pyramid Alehouse is a seriously good time

Toast your friends with a well earned beer or non-alcoholic beverage, and grab a bite to eat from any of the incredible local restaurants in the area. Show off your free souvenir water bottle or the commemorative t-shirt you may have purchased, and just hang out and browse through all the sure-to-be-excellent photo opps we know you’ll take advantage of.

3) You’re supporting critically important work that brings bicycling education and advocacy programs throughout our communities

Did you know the Emerald City Ride is a fundraiser? Your registration fee allows us to make Washington a better place for people riding bikes. The funds raised through the Emerald City Ride support programs like Let's Go, the Major Taylor Project, or our statewide advocacy. Your participation in this and other rides truly does make our work possible, and we couldn’t do it without you.
