Safe streets advocates benefit from Lime collaboration and Seattle riders’ generosity

SEATTLE, Wa. – April 29, 2019 – Cascade’s efforts to #ConnectSeattle and bring better safe infrastructure to the Puget Sound got a boost from a six-month-old Lime program and the generosity of Seattle residents. Through Lime Hero, Seattle-area Lime users can donate to an important cause every time they ride.

Over 5,000 users have signed up to donate by rounding up their trip fee to the next dollar every time they ride on any one of Lime’s 5,000 Seattle-area e-bikes. The program has raised $10,000 in six months to benefit Cascade's nonprofit programs and services.

“If we are going to get people out of cars to use clean, congestion-free transportation, we have to make sure they have safe infrastructure to do it on,” says Jonathan Hopkins, Strategic Development Director for the Northwest. “That’s why Cascade made so much sense as one of our Lime Hero partners. Bike lanes are no different than sidewalks. If our parents, grandparents and kids don’t feel safe riding on them, then there is more that we should be doing.”

“Our partnership with Lime has been a tremendous success,” said Richard Smith, the executive director of Cascade Bicycle Club. “As we continue to work with Lime to build a safer city and region, we hope more companies will come forward to collaborate to make our streets the safest and greenest in the country.”

Since Lime Hero launched in Seattle, Austin and Washington, DC, the program has expanded to dozens of other cities, including Tacoma.
