Speak up for Safety Improvements in Wallingford and Green Lake

The Seattle Department of Transportation (SDOT) is constantly working hard to make our city streets safer for everyone. But today, I am excited to announce they’re going to be making safety improvements in Wallingford and Green Lake.

As a Wallingford resident, I know the intersection of Green Lake Way N and N 50th Street is a nightmare for those of us who choose to walk and bike to the great places in the neighborhood.

But it doesn’t have to be this way.

We can create safe places for people to walk and bike in Green Lake and Wallingford by working together to support projects that make our streets safer.  That is why it is important for community members to attend the project’s open house next week to remind SDOT how important these safety improvements are.

We cannot afford to lose this is an amazing opportunity to safely connect neighbors to Green Lake, Woodland Park, Phinney Ridge and the zoo.

R.S.V.P here for the open house.

This is our chance to show support for moving this project forward as a high-quality intersection that provides people of all ages and abilities with safe, convenient, and comfortable opportunities to walk and bike around the neighborhood.

SDOT has listened to neighbors and seen the need for improvements at this intersection. But without community support for the critical components of a well-designed project we are at risk of being picked apart by people who don't understand the project’s benefits. And if we don't implement these safety improvements, we could end up with something that is not safe for our families to ride and walk on.

Let's speak up for the safety, convenience, and comfort of our community – both young and old – and make Seattle the best city for biking and walking.
